Our Design Process
The design process strives to understand all the possibilities and restraints that lie outside the design itself in order to weave the solution so that it meets the clients needs and respects the context in which it is placed.

Pre-Design

Understanding the nature of the existing conditions is the first step in the design process. Analyzing the site, surveying existing construction understanding the project's context and cataloging governmental regulations set the stage before considering design solutions that suit the clients needs and the community's environment.

Schematic Design
What are we going to do?

Schematic Design provide a holistic overview of a proposed solution and options. Drawings developed on the tablet allow accurate, loose sketches that illustrate ideas for consideration by client and architect.
Design Development
How are we going to do it?

Design Development moves the ideas from Schematic Design into the beginnings of how we intend to realize the project. Zoning regulations, building codes, insulation values, beam spans, light fixture placement, roof materials, fresh air requirements are among the myriad topics evaluated during this phased of the project.

Construction Documents
Now, show someone else how to do it.

The Construction Documents are the instruction manual of how to put the project together. Evaluated by the local jurisdiction to verify compliance with zoning regulations and building codes, the package is also priced by the contractor and becomes the touchstone for the construction project.

Our Commitment to Excellence
Award of the building permit turns the project from an idea into a structure. At this stage, the contractor takes the lead and the architect serves as steward of the design and represents the Owner in the construction process, ensuring that the product matches the work described in the drawings and is suitable for the client's use.
